Rassel – Pocket Shaker is an iPhone app that allows you to transform your device into a shaken percussion instrument. With just a simple shake, you can experience the joy of playing different instruments right at your fingertips. This initial version of the app offers four different instruments: Egg, Shaker, Tambourine, and Bells. Switching between these instruments is as easy as swiping the screen.
What sets Rassel apart from similar apps is its unique audio rendering engine. Unlike others, this app takes into account continuous velocity changes based on how the sampled instruments are agitated. With the device's gyroscope directly mapped to this velocity, each movement produces a sound that mimics a real instrument. We have spent considerable time fine-tuning this app to provide a lifelike experience in both sound and handling response. And we believe we have come pretty close to achieving that.
